Heating Advice
We have a 6 bedroom house and would like to know whether it would be more economical to put an oil boiler or an electricity boiler in, for heating and hot water?
While electric "wet" central heating systems are available, they are mainly suitable for smaller, modern, well-insulated properties, where energy use is low. They cannot use off-peak electricity tariffs as the boiler is required to operate whenever there is a demand for heat and does not work in a "storage" mode (as with individual storage radiators).
For this reason, even though oil heating costs may be high, this is likely to be more economical than electricity. I am assuming mains gas is not available.
