Heating Advice
I have a wall mounted conventional boiler it is 30 years old, it has never been any trouble, would it be sensible to change to a condensing one?
A new condensing boiler will give greater efficiency, if it is allied with a modern control system and if the existing heating system (radiator sizes etc) is suitable.
It may not be possible to install the boiler in the same location due to the changes to Building Regulations regarding boiler flues etc. since the original installation. These changes are not retrospective, so there is no concern about the current boiler - but a new installation would have to comply. There will also be a need to install a small drain pipe into the house foul drain system to take away the flow of condensate from the boiler.
I can only advise generally on the improved efficiency - not on the possible issues (above) which MAY complicate the new installation. For this, a Gas Safe Registered or Benchmark engineer would need to inspect the system and advise on the installation having seen the situation "first hand".
