Microgeneration Strategy and Action Plan

Overview

The Microgeneration Strategy and Action Plan was published by DECC in June 2011 following consultation.

The strategy has two core principles:

Principal 1: Provision of financial Incentives to support the growth of small scale renewable energy generation. The intention is to reduce this support over time as sector achieves critical mass and innovation drives down costs.

Principal 2:  To address the non financial barriers facing the sector. With government, industry and consumers to work together but much of the onus is on industry to overcome barriers and maximise opportunities from the financial incentives. Government's role is to streamline regulation and protect consumers.
